It’s show #585 – On today’s show, we’re talking about how to lower your chances of back injury in the shop, cutting the end of a workbench, designing with secondary woods and super-duper ultra mega laminated bench top

What’s on the Bench

  • Marc is finishing up his raised garden bed with a non toxic finish.
  • Shannon is making fancy vases from scrap wood.
  • Matt isn’t a single dad anymore.

Kickback

  • Paul works part time at Woodcraft and is tired of seeing our faces every time he walks in the door.
  • Porcupine Woodworker realized his local Woodcraft is closer than his local Rockler…

Listener Questions

  • Gabriel asks about things he can do to work in the shop with a bad back. He also asks how to trim the end of his big boy workbench.
  • Lars is building a cabinet for under his desk and asks for design advice on using a secondary wood in the design.
  • Pawel wants to laminate together his workbench top with a bunch of narrow and short boards and asks if this is doable.

Hey. Thanks for not quitting.

Question – marc recommended a couple of back stretching videos – one was the mcgill big 3, the other was just mysteriously referenced as “being by a lady” – any chance of elaborating on this?

Also technical observation – transcript for this episode is the wrong episode. I was like great, I can confirm I didn’t miss something before asking the question above! And then spent waaaay too long searching through the transcript before I saw it was episode 583!

Thanks
