I have a Jet 22-44 ODS and find that when I turn the oscillating feature on I can run panels through at the full 44″ width (I did it a couple times) with a very smooth and level surface. I also subscribe to having the drum be exactly parallel to the table.

Norm did use his large sander in a couple of shows, but caught so much verbal garbage from his viewers about him showing methods and tools they don’t have that it fell out of favor to use on the show and eventually disappeared from the shop.
